Destiny - Vendor Weapons to Check Out in Rise of Iron

With every new DLC launch in Destiny, there is a new batch of death-dealing, murder-cannons sold by the various vendors across the tower.  Many of these weapons will fade into obscurity but a few of them will become classics in the hands of guardians across the solar system. If you're looking to improve your arsenal with a vendor weapons, look no further than these brand new selections. I'll identify if they're good choices in PvP, PvE, or both, what faction you can get them from, and the best perks.

Top 3 for PvP: Last-Ditch 001, Event Horizon, The Waltz

Top 3 for PvE: Keystone 01, Event Horizon, Occam's Razor

Top 3 for PvP and PvP: The Continental, 44 Curtain Call, Event Horizon

Scout Rifles

Keystone 01 - Dead Orbit - PvE - Extended Mag/Triple Tap/Crowd Control

The Keystone 01 falls into the same archetype as the Jade Rabbit which means it fire slowly but hits like a truck.  What sets this scout rifle apart however is the massive ammo capacity. With the high starting magazine of 14 and the perk Extended Mag which boosts the clip to a whopping 18 rounds, you'll be able to fire this gun for days.  Combined with Triple tap, you could potential fire 24 rounds before reloading. Crowd Control really brings this gun over the top for PvE, guaranteeing that you'll be able to mow dow legions of splicers with relative ease.

The Wounded - Future War Cult - PvP and PvE - High Caliber Rounds/Quickdraw/Perfect Balance/Outlaw/Zen Moment/MD-Reflex

Featuring one of the best scout rifle sights in the game with the MD-Reflex, The Wounded has a solid build for either PvP or PvE. Outlaw and Quickdraw are excellent choices for when your fighting other guardians while Perfect Balance and High Caliber Rounds are great for the minions of the Darkness. Zen Moment is great for any activity. While I don't think that The Wounded will beat the Keystone 01 for raw killing potential in PvE, it's a great choice for the player that want's a workhorse for every activity.

Hand Cannons

Palindrome - Crucible - PvP - Rangefinder/Spray and Play/Rifled Barrel

The Palindrome follows the same mid-rate of fire and heavy damage archetype as the all of the other stellar hand cannons such as Eyasluna, Lord High Fixer, and Finnala's Peril. By having two solid range boosting perks to limit the number of painful ghost bullets, the Palindrome will reliably bring down guardians at all but the longest ranges.  Add a decent reload perk in Spray and Play and you have a solid PvP hand cannon that can compete with any of the best out there.

Free Will III - New Monarchy - PvP - Quickdraw/Snapshot/Hammer Forged/Rangefinder

Going out on a bit of limb here but everything about the New Monarchy hand cannon feels good.  In the same faster firing archetype as Thorn, the Free Will III has a host of perks that give you a slight advantage in enemy engagements. First off, it has both the Quickdraw IS sight and Snapshot ensuring that you'll be ADS faster than anyone else on the field. Secondly, it has two range boosting perks that will make it reliable at a medium to close range to take out the seemingly endless number of shot gun rushers in the current Destiny meta.  Running this with a high impact sniper will give you options that will help you stay alive.

Pulse Rifles

The Waltz - Future War Cult - PvP and PvE - Rangefinder/Perfect Balance/Lightweight/Armor Piercing Rounds

If you have yet to get a god-roll Grasp of Malok, you have your answer in the form of The Waltz. A fast-firing, low damage archetype of pulse rifle that has been a mainstay in the crucible. With a perk dedicated to both range and stability, the gun has a reliable firing pattern that will hit effectively from most ranges. Add a pair of great, situational perks with Lightweight for backing off from shotguns and Armor Piercing Rounds for staggering snipers, The Waltz is a fantastic weapon for crucible. For PvE, it hits reliably and has a large mag at 30 rounds giving you ten bursts to bring down the mobs or to DPS a weak boss spot. However, if you do bring this into PvE, I recommend a pair of pulse rifle reload gauntlets for maximum effectiveness.

Auto Rifles

The Continental - Vanguard - PvP and PvE - Focused Fire/Eye of the Storm/Perfect Balance/Rifled Barrel/Hidden Hand

As far as versatility goes, The Continental probably is the best vendor roll you can get essentially offering you two distinctly different auto rifles in one. Your first gun feels like the monte carlo with great a stability boost from Perfect balance and two separate perks (Eye of the Storm/Hidden Hand) that will increase you ability to continuously hit an opponents head. The second gun feels totally different but is equally impressive with the Focused Fire perk slowing down your shots for additional damage. With this build, you get a massive range boost from Rifled Barrel, you get to keep the headshot potential with Hidden Hand, and you've got a ranged monster.  An impressively fun and diverse roll with the power to back it up whether your facing the darkness or other guardians.

Extremophile 011 - Dead Orbit - PvP - Hip Fire/Perfect Balance/Persistence

Another reliable auto rifle in the Monte Carlo archetype with a fast fire rate and decent impact.  The Extremophile is one of those guns that can reliably beat shotguns if you have any sort of distance on them. The real star of the the perks in Hip Fire, allowing you to back up faster while still hosing down the charging shotgun in front of you.  Perfect Balance and Persistence just allow for a better shooting experience making it feel good to ADS and burst down unexpected enemies.

Sniper Rifles

Event Horizon - Crucible - PvP and PvE -Shortgaze/Hidden Hand/Smallbore/Grenadier

What a fantastic vendor weapon! This was my first purchase and I haven't regretted at all.  As a high impact, low fire rate sniper like the Black Spindle this weapon does huge damage to majors in PvE and bodies in the crucible for 181 damage making literally any follow-up shot an instant kill. The perks that this comes with are actually a little insane. First off, it has one of the best scopes in the game with Shortgaze  and one of the best perks for sniper rifles in the game with Hidden Hand. Then you get smallbore which does NOT decrease the clip capacity but does add reliability and aim assist to your shots. Tack on an always decent Grenadier perk and you've got an all-star sniper that you'll undoubtedly see throughout Year 3.

Deposition VII - New Monarchy - PvP - Shortgaze/Unflinching/Snapshot/Hammer Forged

In terms of sniper rolls, this Hereafter archetype sniper is about as good as you can get. Snapshot, Shortgaze, and Unflinching are all excellent in crucible.  While it still has to contend with the fact that you'll only be dealing around 130 damage on body shots, the perks can't be ignored.  I'm not going to be picking this up for a while but eventually, I think this has the potential to be a solid choice in the Crucible.

Shotguns

Last-Ditch 001 - Dead Orbit - PvP - Rangefinder/Hammer Forged/Quickdraw/Soft Ballistics

Yep, this is the shotgun that you're going to be seeing a lot in PvP. With the same base stats as the Year 1 oppressor The Matador, Last-Ditch 001 comes with the stacked PvP perks Rangefinder, Quickdraw and Hammer Forged.  You'll be hitting guardians at ranges that will leave your opponents confused and salty.  Pick this up if you're interested in winning, if you're interested in causing rage quits, or if you simply relish in becoming the embodiment of evil in the Crucible.

44 Curtain Call - Crucible - PvP and PvE - Rifled Barrel/Crowd Control/Cascade/Accurized Ballistics

With the same base stats as the Last-Ditch 001 but with a more well-rounded roll, the 44 Curtain Call is for guardians that want to bring a reliable shotty to both PvP and PvE.  With perks such as Crowd Control and Cascade that will allow you to deal out more damage faster against the Fallen and occasionally helpfully proc in Crucible, this shotgun will do work in whatever encounter you choose. Combined with one of the best muzzle mods with Accurized Ballistics, you'll be able to handle any opposition.

Occam's Razor - Vanguard -  PvE - Final Round/Hammer Forged/Kneepads/Close and or Personal/Accurized Ballistics

While currently underrated, this shotty has an insane rate of fire, 6 rounds in the mag, and decent base stability giving you unparalleled DPS potential. Even the toughest majors will get absolutely melted in the face of Occam's Razor. Most of the perks are decent with extra damage potential from both Final Round and Close and/or Personal. As an arc shotgun, this weapons will be an unquestioned beast in any arc-burn activity.

Fusion Rifles

The Waiting - Future War Cult - PvP - Rangefinder/Perfect Balance/Accelerated Coils/Hip Fire

Future War Cult's fusion rifle again shines above all of the competition with a heavy-hitting fusion with great stability and the essential Rangefinder perk. While not an Omolon fusion, The Wating will impress with it's damage capabilities.  Having the flexibility to put on Accelerated Coils to battle aggressive teams and Hip Fire to quickly finish an opponent, this is one fusion rifle that will should be checked out.

Rocket Launchers

The Warpath - Future War Cult - PvE - Tracking/Heavy Payload/Flared Magwell

Unfortunately for the rocketeers out there, most of the rockets from vendors are fairly unremarkable. However, if you're looking for a reliable PvE Rocket Launcher, The Warpath might just fit into your arsenal. First off, it has the indispensable Tracking perk allowing you to actually hit your targets while Heavy Payload ensuring that whatever you did just hit dies in a fire. Flared Magwell helps get your next rocket ready faster, maximizing your damage output. If you don't have a solid PvE rocket yet, then you can opt to simply purchase one from Future War Cult.

Machine Guns

Bonekruscher - Vanguard - PvP and PvE - Feeding Frenzy/Hand-Laid Stock/Crowd Control

As the only machine gun to spark any interest, Bonekruscher (which is a dumb name) has an incredibly interesting roll. With an impressive rate of fire and impact ratio but an abysmal Stability stat, Hand-Laid Stock is a must. In PvE, Feeding Frenzy and Crowd control come into play often and can occasionally give you a boost in PvP.  I'm keeping my eye on this weapon but I'm also not holding my breath. It seems to have the potential for a massive DPS but also suffers from some strange Range and Stability problems.
